So in Malta you can get these fresh sandwiches on fresh ring-shaped cursty bread, ftira, filled with a delicious spread of tuna, lettuce, capers, etc - called Hobz biz-zejt. It's basically Malta's answer to the panino or Tunacado (iykyk). It's a classic workers' lunch or something families would make at home to snack on. The best ones we found (highly highly recommended) were from Buchman's Snack Bar in Gzira, a renowned bakery in the heart of the city. The bread was perfectly fresh, generous portions, good flavour and the store was packed with regulars which is always a great sign.
